Clams?!
« on: June 08, 2011, 15:36:32 »
Just wondering what's everyone favorite or coolest looking clam? I really like the Maxima's brilliant blue clam(have also seen some green ones I love aswell) any one have any experiences with these? I am really wanting to add one to my tank for father's day(wife agreed to get me one) I just need to pick what I want... Any ideas? I like lots of color(as my tank is suffering that at the moment.) And something fairly easy to moderate to maintain... I don't think I'm ready for anything too needy

Thanks!

Think the klein's will pick at a clam? I read they can pick at certain coral, I haven't seen him touch any of my coral and he has ate quite a few aiptasia...they are almost all gone at this point. He's isn't the prettiest things but he has already earned his stripes with me on the Aiptasia alone, and I would kind like to keep em.

Looks like they do... and with a vengeance... it's a shame as I was really looking forward to keeping him around once the Aiptasia are all gone... maybe I will make a FOWLR tank out of this spare 29 and keep em in there just incase I break back out with aiptasia.

I just want to thank Reefchik for the suggestion of buying the Klein's I was 100% ready to tear down my whole tank and acid soak my rock and this guy has done wonders in just the last week I've had him... he eats pretty much 24/7 I see him all the time nipping at the Aiptasia. Great $10 cure ;)

I don't know about the Klein's but I kept a Copperband with clams for close to 2 years with no trouble, came home one day and he had gutted a really nice Crocea clam. I have tried twice since then to add clams but he immediately statrs picking at them.
