Attention 120 owners!!!
« on: February 07, 2007, 09:24:39 »
To all of you who own 120 gallons tanks, I need so info.  I know that the rough size of the tank is 48x24x24.  Can someone please measure the trim around the bottom and give me some exact measurements?

I am about to order a 120, but need to start to build a stand and canopy and want to cover up the trim so it cannot be seen.  Can I also get the measurement of the length and width of the tank with the trim...

Thanks for all your help!

Travis

I see you can't wait to start your next build! I am thinking the exact measurements you are looking for may be different, depending on the brand of aquarium you purchase. I have an 180g  Oceanic aquarium but I also measured a 180g  All-glass brand aquarium and noticed the trim on the Ocean aquarium was almost a half inch wider.

To be safe, 48.5 x 24.5 would do it, unless you want an exact measurement. If you go with All-glass, you could measure the thickness of the trim on comparable aquariums at your local fish shop for an exact measurement....I image they use the same  trim thickness for the standard 125 and 150 g aquariums as they do on the 120g tank.

why are you only getting a 120?  You should be getting like a 240 or 400.  you are going to go bigger in 9 months anyways.  might as well do it now

Yeah That Fish Place is a LFS to me.  I went down there to get an idea of what I wanted...but didnt have a measuring tape handy, I have to go back this weekend to return some stuff that I bought because it broke.

I am going to be getting a AGA 120 through that guy from Centerville ;)  I just want to have the sump room walls and electrical crap ready for when I get it.

Landis, is your tank an AGA, perfecto or oceanic?

I think the 120 will fit in a 75/90 stand.

Gary, I think that 75 and 90 have only 18" of depth.

No building for me over here (well maybe a sump :) ), the material is toooo expensive.  It's ridiculous the differences in price.

Maybe there is more than 1 size 120g. I found one at one time that would fit my stand.

Gary, that's a 120 tall...48x30x18

7-8 hrs in the car for acrylic isn't worth it for me...i'd pay the extra.

nope, 120 it is, I can run the 120 with the equipment I have now.  A 180 would require an upgrade to everything.

I was thinking a Reef Ready 65 and just pimp it out...top of the line everything.  But then I thought about the fish list that I want and a 65 wouldn't do it for me.

i had lots of tanks...to much involved in getting back in, hard enough to get out.

My case involves upgrading the electrical to my whole house...your case is just not pussing out on 60 extra gallons of goodness

That's why I went with a 120.  More of everything and more to maintain it.
