I have read in a few places about people "modding" a maxi jet 1200 to produce 500gph. What is the mod and, how do you do it?

You can also cut the nozzle off of the maxijet to get more flow. Also if you have them on a wavemaker once they turn off, and then on again they will be blowing in a different direction. It will keep alternating current every time it starts and stops. I personally did this mod and it worked great.

Someone one here cut off the nozzle and then drilled holes in the bottom of it to increase the flow. I can't remember who it was, though.

I copied the mod from someone's thread on RC.   I didn't drill the holes but did cut the nozzle off.   Cheap way to get a more defused flow.  If you do it, you want to cut it where the nozzle flares into the round housing.  How far into the flare is up to you.

Like I said to the flow will alternate when turned on and off (ie. with a wavemaker) :).

I've done it to all 3 of my maxijet 1200s (cut off the nozzle and drilled holes).  It works great (definitely increased the flow), and I have mine on a timer, and really helps randomize the flow.  Each time they restart, they flow in a different direction.
