I was wondering if anyone on here makes their own 2-part. I have been using two little fishes brand but was considering making my own.
-
I do...it's really easy...and inexpensive compared to store-bought stuff.
-
Thats what I'm looking for what recipe do you use, also how much do you dose?
-
I use Randy's recipe 1. I dose 10ml per hour with a dosing pump and it keeps my 240 SPS tank at around 410CA and 2.9Alk. I then add about 1 liter of the mag mix every 6 weeks or so to keep my mag around 1500.
-
that sounds great can you post how to make it... I am going to try.
-
Here you go. I also buy my materials from the website in bulk.

at 10 ML an hour I would have to get a second job. I guess I won't complain about the 20 ML per day I add ;D

This is what I use (same thing pretty much):

I just use epsom salts (magnesium sulfate), which is available in the medical section of grocery stores (it's a laxative and a great foot soak!) I also use baking soda baked for the proper length of time. I purchase my calcium chloride from Bulk Reef Supply since it's not available locally anymore at a quality proper for aquariums.

:) Buy in bulk and the cost isn't bad over the long run. The upfront cost is killer, but per gallon it's pretty cheap.

I don't know...I think I can make 1/4 year supply for less than one of those bottles of the store-bought stuff.
Baking soda: couple of bucks
Epsom Salts: couple of bucks
Ca: $17 from BRS (and it's a gallon's worth...which will probably last me the rest of my life.)
So, maybe $10 or so for a 1/4 year supply on a 60g SPS dominate system.
