Acrylic AIO
« on: November 26, 2019, 15:44:01 »
Built this today, it’s 24”x24” and 11” tall. Used 1/2” acrylic and weld-on #3 (I think) seems to turn out pretty decent, there’s a couple spots that I hope have a good bond. Going to allow it to cure overnight and water test it tomorrow. If it holds water I will add the rest of the internal stuff to make it an AIO frag style tank.

If you’re able to start making frag tanks, sign me up on the list!

Uh, let’s just say most of it was some scrap pieces we had laying around.

I did check price on a 4ft x 8ft sheet of 1/2” clear acrylic and it was around $280 I believe.

Very nice job! How did you clean up the edges to be glued? I have used a joint in the past.
Thanks,
Gary

I cut everything on table saw with a 80T blade. Then ran every edge on a jointer, then finished with 220 grit. There’s 2 spots that I’m not 100% sure of, I had it clamped together too tightly and it doesn’t seem like enough adhesive got between those spots.

Finally got some thicker weld-on #16 to give myself a little peace of mind for all the joints, it’s thicker almost like caulk. Built the filtration area today, need a small return pump and heater now.

Sold it, lol. Didn’t really have a good spot to put this in my house so I just used the money to go towards my new 80gal.
