I believe that it is safe.  I've read were it will make your skimmer go crazy for something like 24hrs.

The putty?  Same, no problems, nothing noticeable with the skimmer, either.

AquaMend is reef safe. I have been using AquaMend for years. I will be adding about 30 tubes or so on my current setup. I like to use it with super glue gel to make sure the rocks in my tank are secure. If you add too much AquaMend (applies to any underwater epoxy) too quickly, your skimmer will go crazy.

AquaMend is available at Home Depot for $3.99 a tube. It is the same stuff sold online and at your local pet store, at half the price.

I'm going to try a different Home Depot I went to the Bellbrook/Centerville store and they acted like they have never seen it and offered me plumbers putty.

Call first. Not all Home Depots carry it anymore .... or it is a seasonal item. The product is located near the paint section and next to the super glue section. Your local HD store should be able to order some for you if requested.

+1 on AquaMend works just as good as the other brands at 1/2 price. BTW: they dont have any because Aquavista bought it all.  ;)

Speaking of Adhesives there is a brand of Super Glue Gel out there that is superior to all (super glue) products in my opinion. I have literally tried at least 15 different types of Gel. The worst on the list is Two Little Fishes. Don't buy it.

At Lowes, they sell 10 gram tubes of loctite gel. It is so thick that you can literally squeeze the entire 10g tube on to a frag plug and it wont run. This is what the packaging looks like. Trust me when I say it does not get any better then this stuff.

Call me stupid, is .14oz more then 10g because I would love to find larger sizes of it.

It depends if the .14oz is volume or weight.  If it is weight 10g is more.  .14oz is 3.9 grams.

Okay, well if anyone ever finds the stuff in larger quantities let me know.
Can to much of that stuff in the tank leach chemicals?

Are we talking about Loctite?  I don't think it or it's componets are soluble in water.  They won't mix.

No not talking about the Loctite that you are thinking of. I had to chuckle at that one. Could you see someone trying to mount their corals with lock tight thread adhesive ;)
Loctite is the brand of super glue. Note the picture above ;)

I've used Duro's Superglue Gel and love it.  Of what I have used so far, it's been the thickest and it seems to set faster.  I've had a couple of times gluing down frags and if I just put a big glob on the underside of the putty, the glue grabs the rock almost right away, so I don't have to sit there and hold it after I have the putty molded to the rock.

You can purchase super glue gel (four pack) at most dollar stores for $1. Much cheaper than Lowes or HD. Just Coral also offers good deals on super glue gel as well.

I knew what you were talking about Brian.  I was talking about the gel.  That would be funny watching someone trying to use thread adhesive.  I think I would use the red kind. :)
