The topic for the January-February Photo Contest is...
Design a new club banner
Submit up to two new banner designs to be displayed at the top of the web page.
We had at lot of interest in changing the banner so lets see what you guys can come up with.
Good luck!
Entries will end February 13 at midnight (no exceptions!) Voting will then begin and end on February 27 at midnight

What size would they need to be? I'm sure a square pic wouldn't work for example

The banner we have now is 910 x 117. So you're most likely fine if it is that size or smaller.
Also, I assume the 'photo must be taken by you" rule isn't in effect for this contest?

No its not but if you pull it off the Internet make sure its not copy write protected.

Jd will need to pick the 2 he likes best. Only 2 entries per person allowed .

I have gotten a request to let people post more that 2 entries for this contest. Since this is a special contest and an improtant one I will allow more than 2 entries for this contest.

i have a toshiba pc laptop that i wish was an apple and so i get all the fun of pretending i have one and none of the benefit of say, picture editing software, that would come with the mac work wonders.

Bump for this! We need banners!!!
Also, we're planning to make membership cards, so a very small logo would be awesome! They'll be used for raffles, showing club membership at group buys, discount entrance to the frag swap, etc.

Bump to the top. We need banners and some creative thinking. We had a lot of responses to wanting to change the banner. We only have 1 to chose from right now. We can also use these for club membership cards and different logos for things like the frag swap.

So does this contest include the banner and the small logo?
If so, what size/ratio does the small logo need to be?

Na the small logo can be done later or now. Im not sure what size it needs to be. Nikki is working on the membership cards, she will need to answer that.

Ugh, anything that will fit into a Microsoft Business Card template will work...I can't seem to make anything pretty...so I desperately need some help making membership cards!!

Eh, I'm just going to play around with it for a while..see what I can come up with. If I don't post anything, assume I got bored - not that I couldn't figure it out. :laugh:
Update - ok, Photoshop is just really boring. I made a pretty clownfish in it, but can't figure out how to export it...and don't feel like taking the time. I'm off to play with fishy stuff and will leave the graphics stuff to the graphics people. ;)

Man oh Man; Those are gorgeous Green Implosion Paly's! I didn't realize they were that gorgeous.
My non-bias opinion is that Those are gorgeous Green Implosion Paly's and would make a GREAT banner.
Excellent photography by Brian. I'm sure he could be 'For Hire' for weddings and such.

Thanks really having fun with it. Wall Tank (Paul) turned me on to this app called GIMP. It is very similar to photoshop but free. Since we have until tomorrow night to add entry's I will likely try to make a couple more.

Awesome, I've been using gimp for ages now. The only issue is its steep learning curve for the gui. They are going to redo it in the next release I heard.

Yeah I have had to watch a few Youtube demos to learn how to merge pictures. The first one took me about four hours but the one with Rayviv's Implosions only took about 1 and half hour.

Brian, I REALLY like yours (with Rayviv's livestock) . While the rest are all very good, yours stands out above the rest. Unless someone else blows that out of the water, you have my vote. The name is easily readable and the image pops. Nice work
