Engineer Goby
« on: August 13, 2009, 13:32:24 »
Ok, I've had it with this guy.  He's got to be about 8-10 inches long and he's cool looking as heck.  But he does dig constantly and with a new DSB it's getting to be too much.

Free to a good home, and if you have a good hint on how to catch him, even better!

I don't know how anyone could keep corals in a tank with one of these guys.  He sprays sand everywhere.

I imagine it's going to be two person job.  One to chase him while someone else holds the net.

If you really like him, give him some time. Once they dig a burrow, they are pretty much done digging. I seldom see him moveing sand around anymore.

My Goby has been here plenty of time and knows how to cover everything on first and second tier with sand. I would like to keep him but I see no other choice but to keep him out of the 180 when switching from the 90.

I was told they really never stop digging.  Sort of like Golden Retrievers never stop chasing birds, lol.

Dude is gone!

It took me maybe 5 minutes to catch him, and I only had to take out about 4 rocks.  Such a nice looking fish, I will sort of miss watching him, but I will NOT miss the mess he made of my tank.

I'll bet these guys don't make such a mess out of rougher substrates.  I think he was just having a good ole' time in that soft aragonite.  This morning, he had almost buried my Rena heater which is placed at the back of the tank horizontally about 2 inches above the sand.

Adios Engineer  ;D

These shrimps would be perfect for both retrievers to play with. ::)
