2010 FRAG SWAP
« on: December 13, 2009, 23:02:21 »
We need to get a jump on planning for the 2010 frag swap. So we are looking for volunteer's to help with this. Same as last year we will have a committee headed by a chair person/persons. The chair person will be in charge of the frag swap and  working with Rick (slicktrax) to control the budget. This would be a rather large time commitment. The chair will report to me, then I will report to the rest of the board.

We are looking for nominations for a chairperson (yes you can nominate yourself) . If someone else has nominated you, please state whether you accept or decline.  From the list of nominations, the board will choose a person we think can best handle the responsibility based on club activism and other factors.

Last years event went great and we hope to do better so we need to start planning now. There is a forum that is just for the frag swap so the volunteers can discuss as needed. For the new people on the site, the swap last year was July 25.

Hey Jungliztkruger - that's awesome!!  Thanks so much!  That's a touch I don't think many frag swaps have.

That's the million dollar question.  We're looking for people to work on the committee to decide when/where/etc for the frag swap.

Bring me all you frags and i will ensure that they get "swapped"  ;)

Seriously though, I was involved in last years swap.  I attended several of the meetings (no quite as involved in the planning as i would have liked, but business trips had me out of town alot back then).

We'll gear up after we get back from the holidays.  First order of business will be to secure a date and location.  All the donations and vendors will need that information before they can make a commitment.

We'll also get the "fragswap" section of the forum updated. Those that volunteer will get access so you can look over last years info, as well as it will serve as an easy place for us to stay organized.

I see we have alot of people that are willing to help out so I will be delegating alot.  Have good holidays and be thinking of ideas to improve this year's swap !  We'll meet up early January

Great news! We were able to secure the moose lodge (same place as last year) on 19June!  We decided to go a little earlier in the summer to hopefully mitigate any heat problems that we might have later in the summer.

Mark your calendars, Tell a buddy, Bring a friend.  19 June 2010 2nd Annual Ohio Reef Frag Swap.

More information, raffle items, and vendors to follow.

I'm brand new to the Club - but I would be interested in assisting... I'm a "foodie", so I'm not sure if you need someone to organize or set up some sort of BBQ for everyone?  How many members usually attend an event like this?  Let me know...

Hey Tidepool!  Welcome to the club.  We can get Gary (OhioReef) - our webmaster - to add you to our frag swap committee.  Last year we had about 150 people attend, but hopefully this year we'll be bigger and better!  :)
