When researching live stock on-line typically I see an attribute for Reef Safe: Yes/No/With Caution
Thought it would be an interesting topic to discuss, what does it mean to you?

Reef safe to me means that there a 50/50 chance that the creature is going to eat my coral \ other livestock

"A person is smart. People are dumb, panicky dangerous animals and you know it. Fifteen hundred years ago everybody knew the Earth was the center of the universe. Five hundred years ago, everybody knew the Earth was flat, and fifteen minutes ago, you knew that humans were alone on this planet. Imagine what you'll know tomorrow."   < K >

I usually do more research, but overall to me REEF SAFE; won't eat my shrimp, crabs, snails.  WITH CAUTION; May eat my shrimp, crabs, snails (and most likely will :) )  NO; means NO!  :D

While Reef Safe should mean that it won't eat my corals and clean up crew, you are still running a chance no matter what you put in the tank. Just because someone has something that itsn't eating corals and cleaners in their tank, doesn't mean you are going to get that lucky with a different one of the same species. I'm with Steve. Do more research and make sure that the Reef Safe behavior is common for all of them in that class.

I think the word Reef Safe should only be used in the negative connotation.    "NOT REEF SAFE"

Never trust that something marked as Reef Safe will never eat or kill something in your tank.  Always do your research.
