Just got back after being gone for 1 hour.  It is still in place but the green bubbly stuff is gone.  What is left is forming into a disk.

Anyone had a plate coral bud before?

If it is a 'baby' what should I do?

I know they can spawn babies, and the pic is really blury to get a good look, But also don't they really only spawn when they are dieing? Your fish still burying him alot?

I would let it go if it is a baby, they seem relatively hardy, and looks like so long as they don't get flipped over or buried they are ok... maybe quarantine him with a jar or something

here is a closer one a bit less blurry.  It lost the green thing on top and now has some purplish spots on it.

I read about the polyps when dying but it's eating well looks good especially at night.  The clowns are still covering him with sand not totally but a good dusting no matter where I move it.  Not sure if they are trying to host on it or don't like it.  They don't sit on it at all.

They can sprout off budds if they are dying or just stressed. I can not say for sure but that looks like a blue berry mushroom polyp but the picture is a little blurry.

just keep up posted todd. be interested to see what it turns out to be... the plate looks very good, and unless the fish are stressing him out i don't see any reason for him to be on his way out the door.
