Montipora Care
« on: October 08, 2011, 10:03:54 »
I have 3 Montipora in my tank.  I have never cared for this type of coral before.  They've been there for about a month and show significant (at least to me) growth.

Do they need any special care, or what do I need to do to ensure that they continue to do well?

2 of these are the ones that you gave me.   The third was eaten by my long spined sea urchin  :angry4:

Depends on what type it is.  Some types prefer low light, others require lots of light.  Definitely lots of ca and mg, and also depending on the type, high water flow or low water flow.  Montiporas come in many different flavors.  Plating types require differnt conditions than spire types.

These are red plating.  I believe the orange one was the one that got munched.

ii have tried to kill mine from time to time and i couldnt so i would say just "normal" coral care. i have some, off the same mother, high in light some low light , high flow low flow and they all do well.
