Do you think it hurt or was relief for the clown.

"A person is smart. People are dumb, panicky dangerous animals and you know it. Fifteen hundred years ago everybody knew the Earth was the center of the universe. Five hundred years ago, everybody knew the Earth was flat, and fifteen minutes ago, you knew that humans were alone on this planet. Imagine what you'll know tomorrow."   < K >

Holding the fish probably freaked it out more.    But it did hurt my eye.

Wow...  That is crazy!!!  It was hard to tell, did he actually suction out the bubble?  Hmmmmm, I may have to try this...

That's what I thought too.  I have a syringe, but the needle on it is HUGE!

According to science... most all fish can't feel pain, they can only react to it in a "reflex motion".... the ones who can feel pain usually have a very limited number of pain receptors and they are usually clustered together in one area... IE a rainbow trout and it's lips(it has 50-60 receptors along it's lips)... Most fish simply can't feel it due to lack of receptors or Brain capacity...(weird I know some people who should technically not be able to feel pain either then :P )

Hahaha, I know some that resemble that!

I too have heard the same thing about pain in a fish.  Paul B on RC talks about this in some of his posts.  He has done surgery on several of his fish with wonderful success!

I wonder what would happen if I just "popped" the bubble with a needle instead of suctioning out the air?

I don't know, they were like that as tiny babies when brian got them.  Maybe someone else can chime in as to what causes it.
