Feeding
« on: October 19, 2011, 19:31:36 »
How often should my tang and damsels be fed?  I feed the tang a sheet of garlic seaweed a day and either brine shrimp soaked in garlic or garlic flake food..  My tang is starting to get kinda fat..  They eat up pretty much everything I give them..

I usually feed my blue and yellow tangs at least 1 sheet of nori each day has well has feeding mysis shrimp 2-3 times a week. I never feed brine from what i understand its basically like candy for fish so its not really beneficial.

really... so should I stop with the brine?  the tang usually picks away at the sheet or at the rocks or glass...  i just don't want to starve the tang.

How big of a sheet?   Tangs will eat you out of house and home.   As long as their primary diet is seaweed you should be fine.   I would try to offer some different types of seaweed.

Oh my goodness. A whole 2x4 sheet of nori per day + brine shrimp and flake. Do you have algae problems yet?

Not all 3..  but always a sheet of seaweed and either the brine or flakes..  I don't really have a algae problem... yet.  My tang hasn't had any problems eating so far and I was nervous after reading some horror stories online.
