90 gallon is coming right along
« on: October 03, 2013, 23:43:27 »
Tank has been up and running for a bit over a week, but I found some 15 year old live rock to put in it :)  Still a work in progress for sure, but I'll add more photos as things progress.

After the tear down

I love rinsing sand, I think I'll do it one more time just to be safe...said no one ever

Picked a couple of these MS Deluxe LED fixtures from Marine Solutions.  I would highly recommend.

Long spine sea urchin getting in the way of my pictures <3

Kryptonite Candy Cane - First coral

So far in the tank I have 3 Green Chromis, 1 Purple Pseudochromis, 1 Ocellaris Clown, 2 Flame Scallops, 2 Peppermint Shrimp, Full Clean up Crew, and a Kryptonite Candy Cane.

More pics to come :)
I'm attaching my background tomorrow, because I simply forgot, lol.  Also adding my UV sterilizer, and my MRC MR-1 skimmer here in the next couple days.

Tank is looking good, you made some nice choices on equipment for your first salt tank. Looks like you are on your way to having a nice reef.

Thanks! :)

Oh, and I also threw a second heater in my sump this week because temperatures were fluctuating a bit more than I was comfortable with.  House temps changing with the AC on one day, heat on the next night.  Gotta love the fall weather, lol.  Sitting at a solid 79.3 now for 4 days straight with no change

These two peppermint shrimp I have are a terror to the aiptasia population in my tank.  They move around together from rock to rock wrecking any of them they come across.  I had a couple of them that were probably 3/4" tall, and they just sit there and piece it out with each other.

Here they are picking apart a small population of them they found in a hole in the live rock

Here's a pic I just took.  Sorry about the lack of updates.  We've been working crazy overtime lately with the storms and now snow/ice.  I'll try to get some more up for ya soon!  =D  The nerites are worse than rabbits, i swear, lol.

The meteor shower is a little pale, my light cycle was a bit intense for him so i had to dial it back some compared to what he was used to, and my kryptonite is having a panic attack right now because i just picked him up and moved him, lol.

Looking good Tony. May want to tuck that meteor shower somewhere with much less light. They don't like much. Maybe 50-100 PAR MAX

Yeah, he's actually only sitting at about 45 par on a 10 hour cycle right now.  The egg crate on top of the tank cuts out a huge amount of the intense spot light so I can keep some of the shy guys out in the open without roasting them.  I didn't plan it that way, but when you mentioned how much light it would probably block last week, I looked into it and found it sort of convenient.

Okay sounds like it is in proper light. I ran the lights on 6 hours so maybe it just needs some time adjusting to your 10 hour cycle.

Yeah, he just paled out because when i first put him in he was sitting at around 90 par for the 10 hour cycle.  He's doing much better now though :)  Colors starting to come right back.  Thanks again :)
