We were going to wait a little bit to announce this, but I wanted to float the idea of setting up a range at our place after the meeting here in June.   Obviously not everyone is comfortable being around a range, so it would be an "after swap/meeting hours" event but we definitely have the set up to do it. We shoot trap all the time off the balcony and a downhill pistol range would be a snap. I'll get a couple bales of hay and make a rifle target if I can get it set to where it's going into a hill.

This is of course pending that the officers of the club agree and everyone is comfortable with the idea.

I personally see no problems with it so long as it is after the club meeting hours...

I would certainly be down for it... Not sure how much land you have... but we should make some tannerite or in the red targets...

Not a problem. It's about 200 acres.

The only problem i see is.... I leave in April :(
75G Mixed Reef w/ 30G sump/refuge

Electrical Engineers do it on impulse, with faster rise times, with more power, and less resistance at higher frequencies, without shorts, until it Hertz

I'd like to chime in, if you don't mind...

Stay away from high-velocity rounds.  The FN FiveSeven, .357 Sig and the 9mm are very dangerous in places like - umm - parking lots, shopping malls, grocery stores, and anyplace else that has the possibility of someone standing behind the hostile target - soon to be lined in chalk victim...  You stand a good chance of penetrating soft tissue and ventilating the bystander. :not speak:

In my opinion, unless you're a petite flower, stay away from the ultra-compact Glocks and their look-alikes.  You have to have some grip.

Hunger is a big guy and can conceal a large pistol - there's absolutely nothing wrong with the .45, but I've met your significant other and that's a lot of pistol for her hands.  Get something you both can use.

Not to anger anyone, but these are the weapons I would never, EVER put in my gun safe: S/W XD, tiny Glocks, anything made by Taurus other than a Judge, High Point, Kimber, and several others.  I could go into detail, but everyone has an opinion, this is mine, and I respectfully accept everyone elses's.  Let's not start a ---- waving contest.

This is my opinion, having carried a weapon in the USAF and testing about 200 pistols before settling on what my wife and I carry:

Spend $ and get a good weapon.  Sig, H&K, Armalite, FN, Colt, or Glock.  We both carry a US Border Patrol-issue Heckler & Koch .40 P2000SK, with the LEO decock.  My opinion, get the decock lever.  This allows me to chamber a round and fully decock the weapon safely.  If you don't plan on carrying with a round in the chamber, save the money and go on vacation, because by the time you clear the holster and rack the slide to chamber a round, you will be achieving room temperature.  Takes too much time.  Looks great if you're the star of "24".

Good pistols have indicators on the bolt or ejector that tell you there's a round in the chamber.  Get a good pistol.  Then, buy the "law enforcement only" (Brady bill crap that is no longer relevant) extended magazines and speedwells if you desire.  The speedwell is an extension of the grip that allows for an extended magazine.  You want as much ammo as you can carry in that magazine, because it's doubtful that you'll carry an extra.

If you want, you can take my HK's to the range; I'll set up one for .357 Sig, and one for .40.  You can also try the custom-modified Glock 19 9mm that I have if you wish.  You buy the ammo, I'll clean 'em afterwards.  After you and the wife shoot these, well, you'll probably want one.  They are nice.  PM me if you're interested.

You totally just did...lol

This is my opinion, having carried a weapon in the USAF

LOL this is a mute point, bout as useful as me saying I carried a bb gun in boy scouts....harharhar j/k ya kev   :-Poke

Spend $ and get a good weapon.  Sig, H&K, Armalite, FN, Colt, or Glock.

Such a biased narrowed listing on what is a "good gun"  :th_taptaptap_sml:

I will though agree with you on 2 points....

you can take my HK's to the range;   They are nice.

Hk's are great, I love mine.... though unless your buying used/broken or from a dummy, it's $$ range is going to deter most your first-timers, and most likely our friend here....

but these are the weapons I would never, EVER put in my gun safe:  High Point

AMEN...  :nervous:

sure there are better alternatives to the others you have listed as not personally wanting to own... but their is always going to be a better alternative over something for someone... and for his price range and what he wants it for; most of the ones you turned away are great matches for his price and needs.... and I am not sure on the beef with Kimber, but you either haven't spent much time with one, even a base model, or your just a hater  >:(  ... the 1911 hands down one of the best pistols ever created on this rock - if not "the best"; and Kimber just makes it that much sweeter, made right in the US of A to top it off  :beee:

And we most definitely need tannerite or in the reds... hope your neighbors aren't shy to explosions ;)

Hold on a tic... I'm starting to have a few reservations here. The evening was supposed to be as follows:

Everybody shows up, checks the digs, points out what I should have done with the system, I agree yada yada yada

We all get reefed up on coral and chew the fat about livestock and equipment.

At some point food is either made or ordered...

When the folks that don't want to be near guns are safely out of range, we get them from out of the trunks, leg holsters whatever and turn inanimate objects into perforated objects.

Nobody said anything about waving. lol

You have that .338 done yet??! If so I would be down to stock you with some ammo if you want to bring it, and I can give it a run ;)
