Want to take my cheato and caleurpa out of the sump while treating with Algaefix Marine to get rid of GHA and bryopsis algae.  How can I keep it alive in a 5 gal bucket out of the tank for about a week?

Your Macro will out compete your GHA.... I would manually remove as much of your GHA (pulling it out) as you can and make sure your macro is getting more light and of the correct spectrum(3200k-4800k) 6500+ just wont let it thrive.

Keep running gfo to pull the phates out your rock, and do atleast 20% w/c weekly.

The algae fix wont solve your problem it will only patch it.... But if your set on the algae fix the macro will do just fine in the bucket so long as it has heat(room temp works fine 68-72 deg) and a light schedule to keep it from going sexual or dormant... I have cheato growing in a ziplock bag that I got about a month ago, and it is a green as green can be and hasn't seen new water since I put it in there.

No disrespect :) , but the man said " bryopsis algae" (evil stuff) as well as GHA. Never underestimate this stuff. If your tank has it and you are going to treat it, dump the old macro so you don't contaminate the tank all over again. This stuff causes reoccurring nightmares. I would even remount frags that have been in contact with this algae.

Can you tell I've had to deal with this stuff?   :D

Your macro can stay alive in a bucket for a couple months so no issue their. Put it in indirect light in front of a bright window if you want to be extra safe. There is likely bryopsis in your macro as well so consider tossing it

For now, what I did was to place into 2 1 gallon ziploc bags in water and put back into the sump.
