Ugh... Bad week for fish :(
« on: July 02, 2014, 21:42:32 »
So last Saturday I told my middle kid that I wanted to go get some koi.  He enjoys picking them out so I took him along (youngest had soccer stuff.... Oldest doesn't care).

So we picked out over a dozen koi.  We chose about a dozen that were small and were $5 each and another one that was 8 ish inches long all in the same kiddy pool outside, all long fin.  We then went inside and chose two which are 5-6 in and are all short fin.

I get home and as I was adding the fish to the pond one of the small ones looked mostly dead, he died within 30 minutes.  Over the next 5 hours 6 more died..... Then the following morning every fish that I purchased from the outside tub was dead.  The guy who I have purchased from in the last stated he couldn't get any of the fish from the outside pond to survive when added to his inside setup.

The two koi from the inside pond were eating well by the next morning and are presently doing excellent.... He told me he will give me my money back or give me new fish, whatever I prefer.

Then today I come home from work and my blue face angel was stuck to my mp60.  He has never acted great... Always kinda shy and thin so I new this day was coming, he was acting very weird yesterday.

That sucks. Do you think it could have been due to drastic temp change?

Those kiddie pools can get hot.

Doubt it.... The kiddie pool is tied to a few thousand gallon pond so it gets a constant turnover of water.  He just puts what he wants to sell in there to make it easier to see and catch.  These are usually smaller fish that he raises on site. I think last year I purchased a few from the same tub and they are still doing fine
