Koralia's weak link.
« on: June 28, 2007, 21:42:09 »
Hello all, just wanted to let you know my review on the Koralia #2 now that I have had it for a couple of months. All in all it is a very good pump that will add great circulation to any tank. It is completely silent, very cost effective, and great on the electric bill pulling only 9 watts while moving 600 gph for the #2 model. The only weak point that I have found to the pump is the ceramic pump shaft. After two months of use the pump shaft snapped on me while I was disassembling for cleanup. I contacted Hydor via email stating the situation with the pump and they told me that they would contact their American facility to resolve the situation. This was about a week ago. Today I checked the mail and there was a package from Hydor as promised. The cool thing about it is they didn't charge me anything and when I opened the package I found two replacement pump shafts one ceramic, and the other stainless steel. I don't know why they wouldn't have built it with the stainless steel shaft in the first place, but all in all a very good experience. I would definitly reccommend. By the way the pump comes with a factory 2 year warranty on parts, and labor. God bless.

I Have koralia 4s. Apparently those use metal shafts.
