How do I get rid of "chicken liver sponges"
« on: August 11, 2016, 15:07:22 »
OK, so I have identified the sponges growing in and around some zoas as chicken liver sponges. They are choking my zoas. I pull out the sponge very easily with foreceps, but it keeps growing back fast.  I can keep picking and removing, but I would like to get rid of it before it decides to spread throughout my tank.

Has anybody ever dealt with this?

Thanks!

I would suggest a H2O2 dip.

I would have some serious rock to remove. Any other remedies?  And thanks for the recommendation Kenn

You could inject each one with small quantities of H2O2.

This shouldn't hurt the tank if your not sloppy :)

OK, Thanks Kenn. I have been removing them with tweezers as they grow, but they just keep on growing back. I guess I will let them grow out a bit then start the injections......I'm nervous!
