Do you monitor your tank through your phone?
« on: January 30, 2017, 10:18:31 »
I just had a brainy idea/thought.

I am having thoughts about getting a drop cam that will allow me to view my tank at any given time via my phone or computer.
I found this on Amazon, inexpensive, and could possibly be perfect for this application.  I'm not sure how well the resolution would be with a camera that has 1280/720p resolution.  Like, how far would that have to be from the tank so that I would see a crystal clear picture?  Here is the camera I am debating: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B019MMRV1M/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A7K6H818001EY

Has anyone or does anyone do this as well?  If so, what type of camera do you use and how well does it perform?

Can anyone share their experiences or thoughts?

I have an Amcrest 1080P camera. It sits roughly 20 feet away from the tank.  While I cannot see details of the tank, I can most certainly tell if anything is wrong.
