Phosphate Reactor ?
« on: November 28, 2008, 00:00:53 »
In the last couple of months I have started getting some bubble algae, I have never had any problems in the past and all of a sudden I have algae.  I am not sure what is causing my problems I don't over feed I only have two chromis and two clowns (90 Gallon) and they don't eat that much. I originally started my aquarium off with straight RO water and the last couple of months I have been only using RO/DI water so I'm unsure of what is causing my problems unless it was from the 4 days my aquarium went powerless from the windstorm.  I have been thinking of making a DIY phosphate reactor but I seen one on Bulkreefsupply that looks pretty cool it is basically just a DI housing and cartridge that holds GFO/Carbon but I haven't been able to find many reviews on it is there any other brands people recommend that are cheap?

That Bubble algae can live in extremely low PO4 environments. The phosphate reactor may help. Have you tried a green emerald crab. They usually keep bubble in check.

I like BRS , they have good stuff and great service. I am sure it is good quality. May want to check with Dodd at NDR, I think he has some in stock.
