why is it that the  Calcium Monitors are so much more than the ph and temp and such, i.m sure there is a reason i just dont know it

They're a fairly new piece of equipment, right?  I thought they just recently came out...which everything is more expensive when it's new to pay for development, high demand-low supply, and the company doesn't have to compete with used-probe sales.  I could be wrong on the timeline though.

I wish they made Alkalinity monitors, now that would be really nice to have for dosing.

There was a thread on RC where someone asked that question.  Randy Holmes was talking about how it require multiple measurements to get Alk.  However, he was in work with a company that he wouldn't talk about to create a probe that would tell a measurement representative to Alk.
