Damsel in "distress"
« on: January 23, 2010, 14:38:33 »
The damsel is fine, however, I am ready to add a couple ocellaris clowns to the tank.  I have had enough people from enough different walks of life, with enough different motives tell me the damsel has to go...  We have grown fond of the little guy and I'm considering setting up another nano (10g) FO just for him, a little live rock, and maybe some small snails and crabs for company...  I have a couple AquaClear Mini's that I could run side by side for basic filtration, and down the road I might get a Koralia Nano to add circulation to the tank.  I have just about everything I would need to do this, except a heater (need a 50W submersible).  I have a NO striplight that will work (have to buy a new bulb - probably a 50/50?), and I would probably move the huge piece of live rock out of my sump into the 10g.  I want to put a DSB in there anyway, and jimmy up a small fuge, which I can't do with that piece of rock.

Does anyone see any errors in my thinking, or have any other advice?  Gifts/donations? ;)

After reading this post all I could think was..."Oh my, looks like the first signs NAT (need another tank). A sure sign of salt water tank addiction."

"A person is smart. People are dumb, panicky dangerous animals and you know it. Fifteen hundred years ago everybody knew the Earth was the center of the universe. Five hundred years ago, everybody knew the Earth was flat, and fifteen minutes ago, you knew that humans were alone on this planet. Imagine what you'll know tomorrow."   < K >

No doubt.  The fact that I got into the hobby at all is an indication of an addiction.  I know I don't want to go any bigger than what I have for right now, but I have all the makings of a simple nano, and we like the damsel, so it just became an option.  Watch out in the next house, though...

i am kind of a noob at remote deep sand beds but what about running a display-able remote deep sand bed with him in it, might need to get a tall tank but just an idea
55 gal working on upgrading to 120 with a 55 Sump(unless I find a deal on a bigger tank)

10g aquarium has been set up for over a week with sand and LR.  My wife and I had to take nearly all the LR out of my 29g to get to "Chubby" and it took about an hour.  It was a bonding experience fraught with peril and cursing :)  Chubby seems to be doing well in the new tank and found the PVC hiding place fairly quickly.  He's not hiding as much right now as he was in the 29g, but we'll see how long that lasts...
