flow rates for drain lines

Lookin for info on flow rates for different size
lines. both hard pipe & spa flex.

What size? Spaflex should be similar flow rates if its not a crazy bend.

Reefcentral.com has a flow calculator for drains.

Oh man thats funny. Silly people and there frags! If I remember right, a 1" bulkhead will flow 900GPH. Thats using an overflow box though. A tank with a bulkhead drilled in the back won't flow as much.

In either case, I am sure you won't be flowing more than 900GPH in a 14G :) So 1" should do just fine.

yeah looks like i will be goin with 1". should be plenty. the calculator
on reef central also gives a "recommended minimum linear overflow size".
i know what linear means but not sure what it means in this situation.
will just be drillin thru the back of tank.

I used 3/4 to plumb my 20gal into my sump.  IT handles everything I need.    It really depends on if the recirculation is going to do all of the flow in the tank, or if your going to add a powerhead to get the flow.

a 1" to 3/4 should be fine

think i will go with 3/4" drain and 1/2" return. still not sure what this "recommended minimum
