looking for an external return in the 1000ish GPH range. wanting quite & efficient. new or used.

Velocity T4 from Champion is a silent external pump.  Some state it adds heat to a tan so depending on size of your aquarium that could be a issue.  I use one on my 210g & it's a excellent pump.  Not the most effecient at 120-140w if I recall & they sell for $150-175 I think.  800-1000 gph at 6ft head

Red Dragon pumps are also silent & can be internal or external but they cost quite a bit more

Some like the bubbleblaster pumps, I have never used one thus no experience

My red dragon 12m3 (2500 gph at 6ft) & velocity T4 are quieter then any eheim
