Tank livestock

What are some of your suggested co-inhibitors for my Gramma?
Okay so here is the skinny...I've had a Royal Gramma in my aquarium for roughly a year and a half, solely. So to say that he was more than a little ticked off when I introduced some new fish would be an understatement. This aggression, was new and to be somewhat expected but I didn't imagine to this extent.  He has bullied (to death) a pair of firefish, and a yellow clown goby.

 I am open for suggestions...

Debating on getting someone to show him he's not that bada$$.

Thank you  ;D

The grammas and psydochromis that we've had wouldn't let anything new into the tank that wasn't double there size and had matching temperament. Tangs?

Not sure about tangs? Its only a 50 (36x18x18") with a decent amount of liverock.

My cinnamon clown draws blood when I do h2o changes..... he's in a 210g.  I would think some clowns would easily be able to take his attitude.  Maroons are supposefto be some of the meanest however they are also ick /disease magnets.

Small yellow tang for a few years
300g tub o fish

Maybe put him in time out in the sump and add the other fish. After a week add the grama?

Hmmm...I would have to remove way too much live rock to catch him. Maybe I'll see about the clubs fish trap?

They typically guard a spot pretty well.  I don't think it will go for the trap........     Can you put a divider in your tank.  Let the two fish see each other, but not able to get to them.

When I put my Hippo tang in the tank, my RG would latch onto his belly and go for a ride.   The tang really didn't care......  eventually it stopped.   But I would avoid firefish with a RG.....the firefish is much to timid.

I was questioning the effectiveness of the trap myself. It is a rather intelligent fish.

So, with your experience with the RG. What would you recommend as far as my next fish addition? Keeping in mind that its only a 50g.

A Small Scopus Tang would be fine in a 50.    Yellow, Brown

What do you have in the way of corals.    A Small Angelfish would be okay too, unless your coral is too tempting for these guys.

Wrasses should do fine too.

No corals as of yet...just now getting ready to wrap up my lighting.
-I have contemplated an african flameback angel
-Also wondered about a six line wrasse
I'll look into the scopus as well. Thank you

If you are still looking for a pair of "unique" clowns - Jack's in Beavercreek has a pair of snowflake clowns that look pretty cool - going for $79 each which is pretty good for snowflake clowns - at least the pricing I have seen... you could always stop by on the way to/from the Ohio Reef Club meeting today  :be happy:

Thanks for the heads up on the snowflakes, unfortunately I didn't see your posting until just now.

I'm debating between/a combination of African flameback angelfish, Splendid dottyback, and a six line wrasse. Dottyback last, I would think.
I may also omit the dottyback for...

I would maybe skip the dottyback. They get very agresive as they mature and just may turn the tables on the royal gramma. Some of the wrasse would do good as mentioned by walltank. Sixline, melanurus, secretive, mystery would all do well. I would be carefull on adding smaller fairy and flasher wrasses, they tend to get bullied.

What are your opinions towards the african flameback?

Thanks Rich! I am really debating on getting one

I'm going to try to do some more research, and hopefully I'll get some more opinions.

Do you know anything/have experience with this damselfish?
