Feeding nori
« on: May 22, 2012, 20:56:16 »
So i dropped a rock which i had dried some nori on into my aggressive tank. Not surprising, my foxface was all over it. A little surprising was my picasso trigger went after it too. Really surprising to me was my falco tearing bites out of it. Anyone else see this kind of behavior? Could they possibly be deficient in something? I mix up their food a decent amount. Any and all thoughts are welcome/appreciated

Feeding stimulates feeding behavior, even if the food is outside their normal diet.

Carnivorous fish still need vegetable matter to remain healthy. In the wild, they get it from the gut of the herbivorous/omnivorous fish they consume. I occasionally soak my nori in Ova Feast to "trick" the ones that normally refuse it, into eating it. Seems you're lucky enough not to have to do that!

I know this is an old thread, but my Niger trigger eats algae along with all the tangs. I think the feeding frenzy the tangs cause is what makes the trigger to eat it too.  Plus, they still need veggies.
