Minimum Size for Office Annenome Tank
« on: January 13, 2013, 15:01:56 »
My wife is absolutely captivated by Annenome and symbiotic relationship with Clown Fish.  She REALLY wants to have me build/purchase a small tank for her office to house at minimum 1 annenome, 1 clown fish, a piece or two of live rock and sand base.  Looking for guidance.  I know that the smaller the tank the harder to get the chemical balance right.  Looking for guidance OBI WON...  You know hte drill - gotta keep momma happy.  Thoughts? Suggestions?

I want to keep this as SIMPLE to maintain as possible as it will be in her office in a college setting.  Luckily she is a PHD Biologist...already has one 5-10 gal tank with aquatic lizards (2) of some sort.

Thanks in advance for your advice.

I think the chemical balance thing is overrated. I had a 14g biocube that did very well. I think what causes imbalance is lack of water changes and top-off. I had a Tunze osmolator hooked to my 14g and never had any issues. I recently saw that Tunze offers a Nano osmolator for around a $100 bill. May be something to consider for a nano tank. Or DIY one for that matter.

I agree, a 14 gallon nano is pretty easy. You ust keep upi with regular maintenance. Any smaller you may have trouble with tempature regulating.

So should I stay away from the 2 g tanks, 5 g tanks, etc.? due to issues with temparature regulation? Lights too bright and heat up water I'm assuming.  Optimum MIN size for an office desktop tank is ???

14 gal Biocube would be perfect for Anemone and a pair of clowns for office tank.

Cody had a 6 gallon tank. His biggest problem was temp. I believe he did large <large for a 6 gallon tank any ways>water changes to keep temp down & water quality up. The 14 gallon is the smallest I could personally recommend.

I have a 10G tank and have seen no issues.  Temp stays @ 78 all day long (t5 lighting)

So I have heard and seen recomendations for the BioCube 14G.  What modifications, if any, would you do to the Out of Box setup?  I'm thinking Protein Skimmer, UV Sanitizer, replace the bioballs, add the power head, etc.?  Please advise...

for my view i am going to setup same type  Annenome & clown tank for my daughter
i choice Aqueon Evolve 8 LED Aquarium Kit, 8 gallons,i think it is bang for the buck vs bio cube

i do not think bio cube the light can support a  Annenome either the Aqueon Evolve 8
but Aqueon Evolve 8 is a rimless tank so you can clam a ledtric  par30 with goose neck which is super nice, used led light with tank for fugi
the led produce no heat compare powercompact on the biocube which can be a trick to bring the temp down
also i like Aqueon Evolve 8 back chamer is like nanocube but better, because the way it lay out you can have a refuigem right the way without mod

the price for the Aqueon Evolve 8 LED Aquarium Kit is onsale the petsmart for $67.00 until end of month i think
here is the photo i got

this the photo someone's setup on amazon with boostled
