Battery backup
« on: October 06, 2017, 19:49:28 »
I’m looking to buy a battery backup like the Icecap that will keep a DC pump going during a short term power outage. Thought I’d ask on here before I ordered a new one, maybe someone had an extra in their garage they would be willing to sell.

I have one designed for computer backup incase of power failure.  Its is quite old and the battery is missing.  I always planned on putting a marine style battery on it and using it that way but never got around to it.  If interested pm me your cell and I will text you a pic or two.

Thank you Jeff for the reply. I got nervous thinking about the possible thunderstorms tonight and went ahead an ordered what I needed. I bought an Icecap battery back up for my reef tank and a battery auto on/off air pump for my fresh water nano. I’m actually surprised I haven’t seen this topic come up very often on the forums.

I think several of us have a small generator for longer term power loss.  I had to use mine several years ago for a day.  Most of my concern was to keep the heater powered up and the main circulation pump running.  Other then that I believe the tank would survive ok.

I think a small generator is my next step. My primary concern is if the power goes out while I’m sleeping or at work and I can’t intervene for several hours.
