Note from parent
« on: October 10, 2007, 17:47:21 »
Actual note from parent to a 5th grade teacher in my building.

We could not find Brandons math paper.  It is not my job to teach my kid math.  That is his teachers job.  Brandon can not do study island because it is a tool for lazy teachers to not do their job.

I love intelligence shining through

Should have sent the parent a note back stating that it is his parent's job, not yours, to teach their child responsibility so therefore you will be giving him a zero on the assignment.

study island is a internet site that we subscribe to and offer to the kids for free for extra practice...math games and i think we might subscribe to english on there also.

Yup, I'm always amazed at how many parents are willing to show their ignorance....

Yeah, you never hear about the brain surgeons having kids...or Oprah...or anyone else that could actually potentially raise a kid.

That would have been awesome!  :)

Yeah... I have a few parents of my third graders that don't want to take responsibility for anything that happens at school too. Discipline, subjects, or Lunch even.  it gets pretty sad at times.  Sorry to hear that matt.

What's even is worse is when a parent calls the Sheriff's Office and requests a deputy because their 7 year old is throwing a fit!! I reminded that parent that a swat on the rear is not illegal!!

Amen Ohioreef, I may have said that once or twice  ;D , I don't think the average citizen understands what we have to deal with either, I heard a call go out a week or so ago because this women dialed 911 and wanted to have the police respond because she had a leaking pipe in her basement.  It would have been hard not to say I forgot my pipe wrench and soldering iron today maybe you should call a plumber.  My aunt is a teacher in Kentucky some of the stories she tells me blow my mind.

Our Juvenile Court has charged several parents over the years for not sending their kids to school.

Sounds like the truancy officer needs to put on his/her big boy/girl pants and get the job done.

"Hi, I'm Officer So-and-so from the (Insert city name here) Police Department, and I'm here to speak to you about your son/daughter not attending legally-mandated schooling.  So, realize your true potential, show some energy for a brief moment, and step your @ss out here so that we can discuss it like adults.  And if you slam the door in my face again, I'll be back with several of my fellow officers, Children's Services, an arrest warrant, and one heck of a bad attitude.  Trust me, you will not enjoy that experience.  Now, tell me what your plan is to improve this situation.  I'm not leaving until you have a plan."

I'm a retired USAF master sergeant and a former First Sergeant of a rapid-deployment fighter squadron.  I'd love to serve as a police officer, not to abuse my authority, but to deal specifically with issues like this one.

Yes it is.  I can't believe someone higher up than he is won't step in and do something.

They've probably written them off so why waste the time/money.
