Is this RTN???
« on: October 06, 2010, 21:56:00 »
This coral was fine last night.  This AM, I noticed a small white section, and by this afternoon, this entire section was white.  So far, nothing else in the tank has been affected.  IF this is RTN, is there anything that can be done?

Thanks!

Sounds like it, and nothing you can do except to frag off anything that is living.  Make sure when you frag, cut well into the good tissue......don't try to save too much.

If you ever notice something starting to RTN, it's best to get it out of the tank quickly, sometimes this can spread from coral to coral.

Update:

I realize now, that the pic that I tried to attach never showed up.  Posting again.

After reading up on RTN, I decided that I'd rather be safe than sorry, so I fragged off what I could and removed the damaged coral from the tank.

This was a smaller section of a larger colony of the same coral in my tank.  The other colony, which was in another section of the tank, still appears to be ok.

The better safe than sorry was the best thing to do.

an iodine dip after clipping is also a good idea.
