Well time for a small  :-Update

Here is the new 5' tall kalk reactor I built.

img width=400 height=600]http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p100/sarah25_04/IMG_7231.jpg[/img]

The can on the left has the saltwater mix in it the one on the right is ro/di. Kent ro/di with a 100gpd membrane. the base has about 5 coats of resin on it to make it water proof in case of leaks. It works great because I had a fitting that I forgot to glue  :th_doh: It held the water just as its supposed to.

I will try and take some tank shots tomorrow and update it a little more.

Thats pretty slick :D

WOW that is a sweet setup. What is the benefit of the extra height on the Kalk reactor?

You don't have to worry about the kalk mix pump coming on and the top off activating which is what happen to Davids tank. Also in theory the extra water should hold more precipitate.

after running one of these designs for a year, I have one idea for improvement.  I dont know how much it would improve (and would be pretty hard to incorporate with the PVC design).

I always feel like the water from the ATO is filling at the top and mixing with kalk and then flowing into the tank.  For people like me that Kalk doesnt really keep up, it would be best to have 100% full strenght Saturated Kalkwasser used for topoff.  I dont think how tall you make it improves this problem at all.

So this is my idea: Works the same way except it pulls water from the bottom half of the tower ensuring full strength kalk.  Of course, as with either design, you woulnt want this to happen while your mixing timer was on.

Electrical Engineers do it on impulse, with faster rise times, with more power, and less resistance at higher frequencies, without shorts, until it Hertz

It would be somewhat easy to do. get a t that has threads in the middle and attach it to the outlet pipe. Kinda hard to explain I could show it to you some time. I have thought about that as well. I figure if I put about 4 cups of lime in it and mix it for 30min twice a day the water in the pipe should be good and saturated.

as soon as the pump kicks on it should be very saturated

Yes, it will be saturated, but you are not getting the saturated water out, you are getting some of the RO water out mixed too becuase the input is so close to the output.  I see what you are talking about Mike.  I bet that would be a PITA to screw that T into the PVC from the inside lol

You gotta put a football next to the tank for comparison lol

Hey Wes the input is suppose to go all the way down so it has to move up through the saturated lime water to get to the output.

Only that in alot of setups the reactor is taller than ATO bucket so that would backsiphon
