Want to Buy - Fluke Tabs
« on: January 31, 2014, 21:13:02 »
I am looking for some Fluke tabs, if you have any I would be greatful to get some. This is a discounted product, hope to find someone that may still have them in their old aquarium stash. I would happily pay a premium amount for them

Thank you for checking. I have some clove polyps that are growing on my rock. I found an RC thread were folks have been successful killing blue clove polyps with the Fluke Tabs. I am not sure if it will work for the clove polyps I have but willing to give it a try.

Have you considered asking your vet?

Do you think they could help? I think it was discounted about 10 years and was an over counter available ?

Have you seen this Brian? Wasn't sure but sometimes pharmacists can mix stuff up, didn't know if that might be possible with a vet prescription.

I didn't know they could do that. I will have to see if I can find out what the active ingredient was.

Thanks Steve; Do you happen to know the ratio and qty per tab. I have dosing instructions based on number of tabs. Are those all active ingredients?

Not sure how much per tab Brian. I found the list of ingredients on Reef Central, it said they were active ingredients.

I was able to find and order them here. Hopefully it isn't a date website and they actually have them. We shall see http://www.marineandkoi.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=MK&Product_Code=FT&Category_Code=AQPT

Hope they have them. I have a few of the clove polyps. I have removed all the rock they were on and right now they are mostly on the sand bed. I pluck them out when I see them and when I set up the new tank I am going with new sand so hopefully that will get rid of them. They are prolific little monsters though. I have trimmed some of the corals they were on and they still come back, I think they shoot runners under the coral or in the coral. I have seen some growing on zoas, so I just pitched the whole frag.

I probably should log on more often but just noticed this thread.  I would not use Fluke tabs for removal of clove polyps.  I tried this method several years ago with disastrous consequences.  Fluke tabs cleared my tank of all VISUAL clove polyps.  However, the treatment also killed every one of my snails, which spiked nutrients and led to numerous other issues.  A couple months later, the clove polyps returned in the exact same location they had previously occupied.  The fluke tabs didn't actually kill the polyps.  It just sent them into hibernation.

I eliminated the nasty cloves by just coating them with either encrusting montis or epoxy.  Cloves are no match for an aggressive monti.  I also went through about 20 sticks of epoxy.  I used the epoxy on the rocks that had undulating surfaces and/or many holes.  The cloves absolutely love to grow on rocks where they can shoot their runners all over the place.  By getting rid of such rock with epoxy and then using monti to fill in the remaining surface area, the cloves loose their advantage and just disappear.  I haven't seen one since.

Note:  If somebody still wants to try the fluke tabs, then I should have a large bottle of them leftover from my endeavor.

That is good information. As much as I want them gone I will live with it until there is an upgrade opportunity. I would be devastated to loose my tank from nutrient spike
