Hey hey hey...
« on: April 22, 2011, 19:41:21 »
Hello All, My name is Cody, I am 24 and live in West Carrolton... Though I have dealt with a few FW aquariums when I was younger,  I have recently taken a crash dive into into the marine side of the hobby. I was looking to start with a FOWLR setup however a friend recently moved out of the area and did not want to take his tank with him so he made me an offer I couldnt refuse. Anyways I have aquired a 50 gallon Reef Tank that we moved live a month ago, happy to report all occupants servived(tang didnt like it one bit, but he's over it now). I have been plowing through as many books I can trying to sponge up as much info as I can about the hobby. I am currently in the process of replacing the canister filter and HOB skimmer that came with the set up, with a 20 gallon sump that I just finished sealing up last night and waiting to get off work an finish pluming as my new skimmer and return pump just came in today. Any and all suggestions or advice is greatly appreciated at this point, if you need or want any more info please feel free to ask.

Wanted to add that my wife and I are loving this hooby thus far(although my wallet is smoking atm from the recent purchases, haha). And that we will be attending the Frag swap at the end of the month and looking forward to meeting everyone there!

WELCOME !!!

When you get a chance, post a few pics in the member tank profiles so we can take a peek at your setup. It will help us with offering suggestions and answering questions in the future.

It will be great to meet you and your wife at the swap :)

Dont forget to bring your smoking wallet with ya

Welcome from a fellow noob on the forum! What books are you reading?  I highly recomend Bob Fenner's "Concientious Marine Aquarist" as well as one he co-authored with Anthony Calfo "Reef Invertebrates"  They are great for beginners, but also something for intermediate aquarists to learn from.
