Ok so I started this and never got back to it. So lets update this a little bit. First off, as of last night all my livestock is now in its new home. It was a long 2 hour move, but so far things seem ok.
The first few pics are from the build, followed by some of where we stand now.
System consists of a 180 gallon RR perfecto tank, 3 30 gallon breeders, 10 gallon fuge, and around a 60 gallon sump. I've figured it is around 300 gallons for the system. It will all be run by an apex (as soon as I figure it out, I've turned it on, but in the process almost fried my computer so this may take a while), 4 AI Sol blue with some red and green supplementation, Super Reef Octopus 3000 external skimmer, octopus reactors for carbon and biopellets, reef octopus dual chamber calcium reactor, and a turbo twist UV Sterilizer. The frag tanks are all lit by HO T5. It was originally planned as 3 frag tanks, but am now leaning towards 2 for frags and one as quarantine.
So it started off as planned, slowly moved everything in and started building. Plumbing is always a PITA, but after fixing a few leaks and changing a few things everything SEEMS to be working ok.
The tank was set up and running for about 3 weeks. It is barebottom, and had a few rocks in it to start. I thought it had gone thru its cycle, as everything was reading normal. Put in about 150 frags into the tanks, and overnight everything slimed and is now white. I am hoping it was just the shock of moving and they bleached from the increase of light. I'm really hoping I didn't kill them all. After this it seemed like the tank once again started to cycle. Skimmer is working great but has that smell to it.
So I decided the rest of the tank needed to move quickly so that I could get all the live rock and cuc in. So the move was done quickly. Not sure how many of the frags are going to be salvagable, but I'm hoping some pull around.
So we moved in the rest of the main tank last night. Packaged it all up, made the 2 hour trip and everything went smoothly. Took us a couple hours to get the rock work the way I liked it, but I'm very pleased with the turnout. All the fish went in well, and they were all instantly out swimming. I figured they would all hide but no. We started to arrange some corals, but that is going to be a longer process, and just take some time.
So this morning I woke up and was half expecting to see everything floating, dead corals and everything, but to my delight everything was doing just fine. Lots of color still in the corals, and all the fish out swimming. So 24 hours in we are doing OK.
So on to the pictures. There arent alot, some are from an Iphone, and most are not clear. But it is still the very beginning so you have to start somewhere.
