New to Saltwater...
« on: November 01, 2011, 08:14:48 »
Hello everyone I just picked up a 28G Nanocube this past weekend.  I bought it set-up and running.  This is my first time giving saltwater a shot.  I have had fishtanks for the past 10yrs or so all freshwater mostly cichlids. I currently have a 75G fresh with a single 10-12" Flowerhorn.  My nano has a few fish (yellow watchman goby, bichlor dotty back, 2-clown fish, 2spot blenny) 3 Hermit crabs, 2 turbo snails  and a banded coral shrimp with one claw and a star fish..   I am friends with Lonnie (blown76mav) on here, he got me into salt water.  Just looking at his huge tank got me hooked.  I also have a few soft corals but Im not good with the names.  Lonnie gave me a few frags to start.  (maybe he'll chime in and say what I have).  I love this little tank, I especially like how compact everything is and how well it works.  The tanks has alot of green alge from the previous owner.  Doing small daily water changes to try to fix that.  Ill try to post a few pics.

Hey good to seee ya finally posted.  As far as the corals go, you have a green hammer coral, Green implosions, random zoa's, clove polyps, leather, toadstool, and I believe a yellow sun coral.  The previous owner used tap water in the tank and there is a lot of alage but we are working on getting it cleaned up and looking good.  I'm going to be helping Jeremy learn the ins and outs to this small tank so when he goes to upgrade he will have a great understanding of what hes doing.  I'm thinking he needs to buy my 250g so I can upgrade to the 1000g I want.  :D

Well so far I have done 2 5 gal water changes.  Im gonna give a couple of months to see if the alge lessens, if not me and Lonnie will take everything down and scrub the rock good and start over.  I think the 2 spot Blenny is history, I havent seen him in 4 days..  I bought a really small Clown to go with the one that came with the tank and they are really active.  I will be getting some more fish at the end of the month.

I've done this a few times when one has died.  As long as the new one is MUCH smaller there shouldn't be a problem.

Yep.  If introduced at the same time and the tank is big enough to house several, I would think the success rate would be better.

yeah thats what i have been told and read but i can understand a smaller one having a better chance to survive as to adding one that is the same sized.
