Sounds like the nem needed proper acclimation to the new lights.  Whenever adding or ever replacing bulbs, you should re acclimate them.  I like to use the window screen method....which allows you to run the lights full strength everywhere else, and only target the part of the tank the nem is in.  Start with 3 to 4 layers, and remove one layer per week.  That will give the nem adequate time to get used to the new lights.  This really becomes a issue if your trying any of the harder to keep nems.
