SPS lives through power outage

Thought I would share what happened to me last weekend.  I lost my power last friday night about 10pm.  My tank is in the basement so I didnt worry about the tanks temp.  I waited until early the next mourning to drag out the generator and get the pumps back online.  I had forgoten about my frag tank that had a large colony of tricolor in it.  Well once the power was lost the feed pump of that little tank back fed into my sump and drained the frag tank down about 4 in.  this left about 2-3in of the tricolor exposed to air.  So for about 9 hours the coral was out of water.  Granted it was at night with all the lights out and in a cool basement but the coral shows no damage or stress.  I cant kill a coral by leaving it out of the water but half bleach one out by my ph or alk getting out of whack.

Great to hear you came out ok Jeff. With my luck, the tricolor would have been toast

I had the same thing happen in the ice storm outage.   I was not so lucky.   Needless to say, my frag rack is a bit lower, and a bit higher water level in my new frag tank.

Everything in our system survived the 3 days without power. (Hooked up a small generator to the pump and t5 lights.) The only casualty was that most of the strawberry shortcake bleached. I've got my fingers crossed, but I think it's a gonner.
