Very nice Jon!  I love the slide show! Why did you separate your zoas?

Why did I separate the zoas....you wouldn't believe me LOL!

Believe it or not, the 70w on the aquapod was too bright! It faded a few and made the new polyps on others much smaller and I actually envied how they looked under PCs! I can't explain it, other than the fact that every 70w bulb is 10K or lower no matter what it says, but under the 150w they are glowing like they used to.
The other reason was Caulerpa. I've battled it in the nano since it was a month old and wanted to have a tank where I wasn't cleaning frags off every month to keep it at bay. The 20g has a sump full of macros and all the frags were cleaned before being put in there so I may actually get a tank of just coral one of these days. It's also nice to have a tank I don't have to dose calcium or alkalinity to every day.

As for the orchids, here's a few more everyone should have(I don't want to scare you or Scott away with the price of a blooming rothschildianum ;))

Paph. bellatulum

Psychopsis papilio

Paph. lowii

Maxillaria schunkeana (one of the truely black orchids)

Phragmipedium caudatum (longest petals of any flower, can get 4ft long!)

Those orchids are amazing. I have never seen flowers like that. How long have you been into the orchids Jon?

Coming on 15 years, and I'm only 26 now. There's local orchid societies in Dayton and Cinci I go to, and have that to thank for all the great people I know now that got me in the door back then. I'm also an admin over on a ladyslipper forum, slippertalk.com, so if anyone ever wants to learn more about them I'm always happy to enable. The two hobbies go together great, and have many parallels.

I can't find my camera anywhere!  I think I might have left it at my Mom's house last week. So I took some pictures of the flower that I think "might" be an orchid with my phone then e-mailed them to my pc. I'm having trouble getting them to go from mt e-mail to desk top so I can send them to photo bucket.  UGH!

Ok got it.  The flower is starting to close up. It looked more like an orchid the day before I took these pictures.

It's not an orchid, but another favorite genus of mine, looks like a Siberian or Dutch Iris (Iris siberica).

Cool thanks!  My first thought was an iris but it didn't look like the "typical" iris. Now I know.  ;D

Thanks for the ID!

Where did your big lord colony go? I've only very rarely seen ones that big in a personal tank and never in a nano! Wish I could get them that big!

I raise Tropical Pitcher Plants, same soil makeup as orchids but I've never tried them. Pretty pictures ^_^
