Hydra 26/52 HD users, app controller

Does anyone here use the Hydra 26/52HD LED lights for there tank?

Within the app, you can control what time of day the lights do this or that.
Can anyone explain to me why you would want to adjust lighting throughout the day?
Right now, I have it set to come on at a certain time, ramp up to the desired intensity, then ramp down before turning off.  Why would you need to change intensities at certain times throughout the day?  what benefit is there to doing so?
