coral tentacles/sweepers
« on: February 07, 2017, 23:32:58 »
Rather than hi-jacking someone elses thread, I figured I'd start a new.

I always hear about these sweeper tentacles that come out of coral.  I have come out with my handy dandy red light to inspect my tank after lights have gone out.  Normally about 2-3 hours after the fact.  I have come out around midnight, and around 1am, and nothing.  I have yet to see any sweepers come out of the corals.

Is there a specific time these sweepers come out?  I really want to see them.  I certainly don't see them in broad daylight.

I think it depends on the coral, my trumpets send theirs out about an hour after lights out, the frogspawn does its during the day.

hm, ya, I have both of them and I've seen nothing.  Unless I saw them and didn't realize it.  I would think they'd be obvious when seen

My trumpets put theirs out whenever I feed the tank...

I have a blue trumpet, as well as a green like the one you've shown.  I have never, to this day seen the tentacles on mine.

everything is alive and well.................i think :)
