In case of a fish emergency keep in mind I am close by as well, across from the High school.
Thanks! I will DEFINITELY keep that in mind. One of the first things on the list of things to buy when I'm employed is a smallish generator (on a sidenote... informal interview on Tuesday, everyone cross your fingers that it isn't CANCELED BECAUSE OF SNOW!
)
Wow, sorry to hear about this guys! Glad to hear everything sounds ok now.
After going through Ike with 9 days without power...here are a few simple tips. Keep around the house some styrofoam cut to enclose your tank. In the event of a power outage, you can just tape the styrofoam around the tank to help keep the heat in. Oxygenation is more important than temperature in the case of a power outage, so if you're on a budget, the battery operated airstones can be a life-saver. In a pinch, we used a cordless drill with one of the bike rack hooks in it...which made an awesome stirrer for the tank. LOL.
I was definitely resorting to a manual egg beater until I dug out an air pump. Maybe emergency protocol would be a good sticky post somewhere, I didn't even know batter powered airstones existed!
