This tank is now sitting on my back porch. It went up August 2010 and now April 2016, 5 1/2 years later it is torn down. What started to happen as corals grew, light and flow couldn't get to the lower regions of tank where the coral base or whatever was underneath would die or not look nice. The repeated growth and die off raised the reef level to high. The Bali Green Slimer breached the surface several times which would stink up the house pretty bad. After many top cuttings some of the coral lost their charm growing really thick like a hedge instead of a branching tree shape. The faster growing corals dominated the system which got boring. I decided to tear it down to start over. The plan is add different types of corals, paint the stand and canopy, replace the tank, add a modern overflow, and get rid of brown clove polyps that were taking over.
I was surprised after tear down how little rock I had in the tank. This is all of it getting ready for muriatic acid bath.
Here are some pics of when I thought it looked it's best.
